Bahrain: State Terrorism takes new, more dangerous dimensions
These are the images taken last night of Mr Jaffar Kadhem, shortly after he was tortured by three masked members of the Death Squads, run by the royal court. He had been kidnapped the night before, taken to a remote part of the town of Jidhafs, beaten up mercilessly, abused and insulted before being told:
Go and let Mushaima help you. They were referring to Mr Hassan Mushaime, 61, the leader of Haq Movement. Both were released from jail last month together with 30 others detained for their pro-democracy activities. Their release came after internal and external pressures forced the ruler, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to order their release. They had been accused of plotting to overthrow the regime.
Jaafar Kadim (41 years from the village of Demstan) was going to visit Secretary General of HAQ movement, Hasan Mushaima, at his house, He was kidnapped, taken to a remote area, beaten up with sticks, batons and kicked with shoes over all his body. The horrific injuries on to his face indicate the cruelty of the attackers.
This came one week after another citizen, Moosa Jaffar Mulla Khalil, was assassinated by a car bomb planted by the Al Khalifa agents. Another passenger in the car, Ali Sa’ad, who was probably the intended target, sustained horrific injuries and has been blinded in both eyes. He is still under arrest in a hospital ward.
The regime has now switched tactics from detention to summary justice, terror tactics and the extensive use of Death Squads.
